Should I Have a Mic Hole Installed?
It is a matter of taste but we do suggest installing a mic hole if you play bars, clubs, theaters; any place where a sound person would mic your bass drum. You don't want some sound guy cutting a hole in your head with his pocket knife.

Will a Mic Hole Change The Sound?
YES - Many rock players do prefer the quick release of air when they kick the drum. Remember most professionl sound people can achieve a great sound with any drum. Even drums made of cardboard!

Can I Install The Mic Hole Myself?
Yes - But we do suggest letting us do the installation because we use professional tools that let us accurately install the mic holes. If we make a mistake we fix it (remake the drumhead) If you mess up the installation you will need to cut the hole larger or order a new drumhead.

Templets and Installation Tools
• You could install a Port Ring (HOLZ or Drum O's brands). This is the easiest way to install a hole and you don't need to have perfect cutting craft. Port Hole Installation Instructions

• HOLZ and Drum O's both make a Cutter tool. It works well. We sell this product in our ebay store

• Use a sharp NEW xacto knife blades when cutting. Go slow to make the cleanest cuts.

• There are other ways to install mic holes. We suggest doing research on the DrumForum.org forum or try this YouTube link to see videos of ports being installed.
